What is Z Gallery Arts?
Z Gallery Arts Inc. is a Canadian-founded arts organization based in Vancouver, BC — an Canadian international arts organization presenting exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, curatorial projects and ceramic research, with seasonal programmes in Porto Heli, Peloponnese, Greece.
Where are the workshops held?
Workshops take place in an open studio in Porto Heli, Peloponnese, Greece, near Spetses and Hydra, about two hundred metres from the beach. Vancouver workshops are planned for 2027, and private ceramic classes in Vancouver are available by appointment.
Who can attend a workshop?
All levels are welcome, from complete beginner to advanced practitioner.
Workshops
How many participants are in each workshop?
Groups are intentionally small — a maximum of 6 to 8 participants per workshop. A minimum of four (4) confirmed participants is required for a workshop to proceed (see Minimum Enrollment).
What does a workshop cost?
Workshops are €2,500 per participant, VAT included. Exact fees and terms for each programme are confirmed at the time of registration.
What will I learn?
Each workshop is led by an international guest artist with its own focus — from hand-building and sculpture to wheel-thrown form and teaware traditions. Full details are on each workshop page.
Residencies
Do you offer an artist residency?
Yes. Z Gallery Arts runs the International Artist Residency in Porto Heli, Peloponnese, Greece. Details and eligibility are on the Residency page and confirmed by application.
Does Z Gallery Arts offer a residency fellowship?
Yes. Z Gallery Arts offers one International Artist Residency Fellowship each year for one selected artist. The fellowship covers the residency fee for a single one-month residency only. Booking & Payments
How do I book a workshop?
Each workshop page has a booking button that adds your place to a secure online checkout. Your registration is conditional until the workshop reaches its minimum enrollment and Z Gallery Arts confirms it in writing.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payment is taken through our secure online checkout (card and PayPal). Exact terms are confirmed at registration.
Is my place confirmed as soon as I pay?
Registration is conditional. A workshop is confirmed once it reaches its minimum enrollment of four participants and Z Gallery Arts confirms it in writing.
Travel
Are flights and travel included?
No. Flights, visas, transport, personal insurance and all independently arranged travel remain the participant's responsibility.
Should I buy travel insurance?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all workshop participants, and is mandatory for residency artists using the kiln. We recommend waiting for written workshop confirmation before booking non-refundable airfare.
Accommodation
Is accommodation included?
Where accommodation is offered as part of a workshop package, it is confirmed once the workshop itself is confirmed. If a workshop does not proceed, package accommodation is cancelled automatically. Independently booked accommodation, airfare and travel remain the participant's responsibility.
Studio
Can participants use the kiln?
For safety and to protect the work, participants and students are strictly not permitted to use, load, program or operate the kiln. Firing is handled by Z Gallery Arts staff.
Are materials provided?
Studio materials are provided as part of the programme. Some ceramic and glaze materials contain mineral compounds — see Safety.
Shipping
Can I ship my finished pieces home?
Shipping and returns are described on our Shipping & Returns page. For shipping finished workshop pieces, please contact us to arrange it.
Safety
Are there health and safety considerations?
Some glaze and ceramic materials contain substances including silica, barium, manganese and cobalt. Participants follow all studio safety instructions and are advised to consult a physician before attending if they have relevant health conditions. Full safety terms are in our Terms & Conditions.
Cancellations
What happens if I need to cancel?
Participant cancellations follow the tiered policy in our Terms & Conditions. Deposits are non-refundable unless agreed in writing; the refund available depends on how far in advance you cancel.
What is the Minimum Enrollment policy?
Minimum Enrollment. All workshops require a minimum of four (4) confirmed participants to proceed.
If the minimum enrollment is not reached, Z Gallery Arts Inc. reserves the right to postpone or cancel the workshop. Registered participants will be notified as early as reasonably possible and may choose either:
• transfer to another available workshop, or
• full refund of workshop fees paid to Z Gallery Arts Inc.
Accommodation provided as part of the workshop package will be cancelled automatically if the workshop does not proceed. Participants remain responsible for airfare and any independently arranged travel expenses.
Guest Artists
How are guest artist workshops confirmed?
A workshop, and the guest artist teaching it, is considered confirmed only after Z Gallery Arts Inc. provides written confirmation, once the minimum enrollment of four participants is reached. Guest artists should not purchase non-refundable airfare or incur other non-refundable travel expenses until written confirmation has been received. Accommodation provided by Z Gallery Arts is confirmed only once the workshop is confirmed.
